LocalHelpNow Ltd (“LocalHelpNow”, “we”, “us”) is a marketplace platform that connects customers with independent local service providers (“providers”) for home services, trades, and delivery in the UK. We operate via our mobile app and website at localhelpnow.co.uk.
We are registered in England and Wales. For data protection purposes, LocalHelpNow Ltd is the data controller.
What data we collect
Customers
- Name, email address, and phone number when you create an account
- Address and location data when you request a service
- Payment information — processed securely by Stripe; we do not store full card details
- Booking history and service preferences
- Device identifiers and app usage data
Providers
- Name, email address, phone number, and address
- Identity verification documents submitted during onboarding
- Bank account details for payouts — processed via Stripe Connect
- Job history, ratings, and performance data
Website visitors
- Browser type, IP address, and pages visited (for analytics and security)
- No tracking cookies are set without consent
How we use your data
- To create and manage your account
- To match you with available providers in your area
- To process payments and payouts via Stripe
- To send booking confirmations, updates, and support messages
- To improve our platform, detect fraud, and ensure safety
- To comply with our legal obligations
We do not sell your personal data to third parties. We do not use your data for automated profiling that produces legal or similarly significant effects without your involvement.
Payments and Stripe
Payments between customers and providers are processed by Stripe. When you make or receive a payment, you are also subject to Stripe’s Privacy Policy. LocalHelpNow holds payments in escrow until the job is completed to your satisfaction.
Sharing your data
We share your data only where necessary:
- With providers — your first name, contact number, and service address are shared when a booking is confirmed
- With customers — a provider’s name, photo, and rating are shared when they accept a job
- With service providers — Stripe (payments), cloud hosting providers, and analytics services under data processing agreements
- With authorities — if required by law or to protect safety
Data retention
We retain your account data for as long as your account is active or as needed to provide services, resolve disputes, and comply with legal obligations. You may request deletion of your account at any time.
Your rights
Under UK GDPR you have the right to:
- Access the personal data we hold about you
- Correct inaccurate data
- Request erasure of your data (“right to be forgotten”)
- Object to processing or request restriction
- Data portability
