About LocalHelpNow

LocalHelpNow Ltd (“LocalHelpNow”, “we”) operates a marketplace platform via our mobile app and website that connects customers with independent local service providers (“providers”). LocalHelpNow is not itself a service provider; we facilitate introductions and manage payments between customers and independent providers.

By using our app or website you agree to these terms. If you do not agree, please do not use our services.

Eligibility

  • You must be at least 18 years old to use LocalHelpNow
  • You must be resident in the United Kingdom
  • You must provide accurate information when creating an account
  • Providers must comply with all applicable UK laws, hold required licences, and maintain appropriate insurance for the services they offer

The marketplace relationship

Providers on LocalHelpNow are independent contractors, not employees or agents of LocalHelpNow. The contract for services is between you (the customer) and the provider directly. LocalHelpNow is not a party to that contract.

LocalHelpNow does not guarantee the quality of any individual provider’s work, except as covered by the service guarantee described below.

Bookings and cancellations

  • Bookings are confirmed when a provider accepts your request in the app
  • You may cancel a confirmed booking up to 2 hours before the scheduled start time for a full refund
  • Cancellations within 2 hours of the start time may incur a cancellation fee at the provider’s discretion
  • Providers who cancel confirmed bookings without reasonable notice may be suspended from the platform

Payments

All payments are processed by Stripe. By making a payment you also agree to Stripe’s Terms of Service.

  • Customer payments are held in escrow by LocalHelpNow and released to the provider once the job is marked complete
  • LocalHelpNow deducts a platform fee from each transaction before provider payout
  • Provider payouts are processed via Stripe Connect and are subject to Stripe’s payout timelines
  • All prices are in GBP and are inclusive of VAT where applicable

Service guarantee

LocalHelpNow offers a service guarantee on eligible bookings. Where a job is completed to a standard materially below what was agreed, or not completed at all, customers may raise a dispute within 48 hours of the scheduled completion time. LocalHelpNow will investigate and may issue a full or partial refund up to the guarantee amount displayed on the relevant service page.

The guarantee does not cover issues arising from circumstances outside the provider’s reasonable control, pre-existing conditions not disclosed at the time of booking, or customer-caused damage.

Provider responsibilities

  • Providers must complete identity verification and any required background checks before accepting jobs
  • Providers are responsible for their own tax and National Insurance obligations
  • Providers must not solicit customers to transact outside the LocalHelpNow platform to circumvent fees
  • Providers agree to LocalHelpNow’s separate Provider Agreement, which supplements these terms

Prohibited conduct

You must not:

  • Use the platform for any unlawful purpose
  • Submit false or misleading information
  • Harass, threaten, or abuse other users or providers
  • Attempt to manipulate ratings or reviews
  • Circumvent security measures or attempt to access others’ accounts

Violation of these rules may result in account suspension or permanent removal from the platform.

Limitation of liability

To the extent permitted by UK law, LocalHelpNow’s total liability to you for any claim arising from your use of the platform shall not exceed the total fees paid by you in the 12 months preceding the claim. We are not liable for indirect, consequential, or incidental losses.

Nothing in these terms limits liability for death or personal injury caused by our negligence, or for fraud or fraudulent misrepresentation.

Changes to these terms

We may update these terms from time to time. We will notify you of material changes via the app or email with at least 14 days’ notice before they take effect. Continued use of the platform after the effective date constitutes acceptance.

Governing law

These terms are governed by the laws of England and Wales. Any disputes shall be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the English courts.
